Help! Dying cloth! A red dress!

  • Drinking: Peach flavored Tea
I have a red dress. It's too bright red and i need to tone it down. (Shades darker, maybe even maroon!)

I've tried soaking it in tea...in coffee....It's not working! X_______X

Anyone know any alternatives? I thought about spray paint.... T__________________________________T

MISSION SUCCESS! IT IS SUCCESSFULLY DYED! THANK YOU FOR EVERYONE'S SUGGESTIONS!
It is now a beautiful maroon color, so happy!

i dunno, maybe soaking it in a really dark-coloured dye?
(though dyes can be confusing:
my friend and i tried to dye her pink jacket black...it came out PURPLE. -_-)

why do you even have a red dress for lool

If you want to make it less bright, then soak it in coffee and THEN chuck it under the sun, then repeat that like three times, and finally put it to the wash and dry it under the sun again. The sun will definitely eat away the bright colours.

Acyually i guess there is paint for clothes at big stores, located at the shoes or home departament it could help

hehe simple, wash it with your "darks". the dark clothes, if they are all black, wont be effected, but the dress will. =)

Somewhat it depends on what the dress is made of... if it's cotton, the dye will take to it well, but if it's polyester, it won't... I have a polyester dress I love because it's comfy, but the pattern is hideous! I would have dyed it, but it's 100% polyester! Noooooooooo!
